Euphemism (n)

Today is July 8. On this day in 1775, in a last-ditch effort to avoid conflict with England, a group of moderates in the Second Continental Congress signed the Olive Branch Petition. 361 days later, however, on July 4, 1776, the same Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. Two of America’s more interesting thespians have birthdays today, to wit Anjelica Houston (born 1951) and Kevin Bacon (born 1958).

Here is a context clues worksheet on the noun euphemism, which I think high school students, particularly in the media environment which we currently occupy, really ought to know and be able to use.
