I have shared this quote with a number of colleagues. The anxiety built into today’s educational system is absurd and unhealthy. It could easily be remedied with Dewey’s mindful perspective.

Absolutely right, Henry: we lurch from one high-stakes, and anxiety-provoking test to the next, never mindful of the consequences of this, let alone the fact that learning is a lifelong process. Where is the next John Dewey, especially now, when we so desperately need him or her?
